Eco-friendly semantics by Astra Papachristodoulou
Astra explores the confluence of visual play and semantics through a range of diverse sculptures that outgrow their minimalist bounds. She mainly uses ecologically-friendly materials such as bio-resin, cellulose, beeswax and lotta paper to respond to the urgent ecological challenges we face today. Her objects often have an interactive element and present alternative ways for poetry that is not fixed to the page. Extrapolating from Astra’s work is a set of techniques and values characterised by the layering of meanings and materials.
